You have to try this fun painting technique on your next card! - CZ Design

A few weeks ago, I was scrolling on Instagram and came across an artist, Lara Fernández Muñiz, who goes by larafdezart on Instagram. (She also has a YouTube channel.) I loved the look of her art and thought: I have paints. And tape. And a scraper! Why not give it a try?

I am telling you now: this is a really fun technique to try with whatever acrylic paints you have on hand. I don’t have many, but I busted them out and today am sharing the results.

I’m sure other cardmakers have done this, but it was a first for me!

Believe it or not, I kind of love the unpredictability of it. You really don’t know what you’re going to get until it’s done and while my two cards don’t have the polish and precision of Lara’s canvases, I still love the way they turned out.

If you have any of Tim Holtz’s Distress Paints, or any acrylic paints, give this a try and see how you’ll feel like an instant abstract artist! I hope you’ll give this a try!

Note: on my paint bottles in the video, I had the smaller labels on them, but the ones that go with these bottles are these. I have ordered a set for myself so they are easier to see.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
